Sorry I haven’t been writing that much new or interesting information recently. Truth is, I haven’t been watching any great movies or reading any great books, and all my philosophy classes are tending toward abstract discussions of what the neoplatonists believed, or how the synthetic a priori can be known. I did manage to see ‘The Fiddler on the Roof’ recently, but there isn’t much that hasn’t already been said about that musical. Even that was something I tried to cancel, but was asked again to go at the last minute.
So… I am considering giving up my student government position. Any suggestions? I’m getting more work, and trying to work ahead on my thesis, since I can’t financially manage to stay here this coming fall in order to finish it. Besides, I live off-campus and have no transportation, and the walk is a good 20 minutes – when I get to school, I generally stay for the rest of the day, and it can be quite hard to study and research here. It would free up much more of my time if I didn’t have meetings twice a week, plus the office hours and other commitments involved.
On the other hand, I would be letting down the students that voted for me, and reneging on a commitment I have made, and the clubs I represent would get a new, inexperienced senator. Is it worth it?
